The San Marino Women's Water Polo Team put a bow on its season last night with its awards banquet. It was a great night to celebrate the accomplishments of the past year. The Varsity squad finished 2nd in the Rio Hondo League (highest ever) and made it back to the CIF playoffs after a 2 year absence. The JV squad finished 3rd in league, their best finish ever.Receiving awards this year for JV: MVP-Alex Friedlich, Coach's award-Kelly Chang/Marie Luff, Most Improved-Paulina Tulaphorn, Most Inspirational-Kelsey Wentz, Defensive Player of the Year-Brandie Lam/Liana Wong.
Awards for Varsity: MVP- Cindy Hsieh, Coach's Awards-Kristin Charlton, Most Improved-Saskia Reather, Most Inspirational -Diana Chang, Defensive Player of the Year- Heidi Tran. San Marino had 8 girls make the All Rio-Hondo League Team. First Team: Kristin Charlton, Cindy Hsieh, Saskia Reather. 2nd Team: Heidi Tran, Carla Bezjian, Diana Chang. Honorable Mention: Umi Nakamura and Jessica Chang.
